Gallery 119 offers art classes
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society has a show and offers art classes on a regular basis.
A photography show is planned from March 3 to March 29 at the gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton.
Hancock County Arts Council will be the special feature artists during this show.
The next art classes planned are:
• Deco Clay Class with Pam Rowley (for ages 15 and older) — 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11. Participants will make a Deco Clay (air dry, lightweight clay) carnation in the color of their choice. It will be on a clay green stem ready to display. Cost is $20 with supplies included.
• Watercolor with Judy Crist — 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 18. Paricipants will paint a seascape. Cost is $45 with supplies provided.
• Acrylic Painting with Diane Burrell — 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 21 and 28, April 4 and 11. Students will develop their own paintings based on their choice of subject matter. Demonstrations will be provided in a variety of techniques. Cost is $60 for all four evenings. with students bringing their own supplies. Eight -student maximum.
• Children’s Art Classes take place on the second Saturday each month. Classes are taught by a variety of teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration.
9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, March 11 — Students ages 6-12 will use various techniques to create images, textures and
layering to create colorful one-of-a-kind prints. Parents may attend the class with their child. (Free for parent).
Cost is $10 per child with supplies provided. Limited to six students

Legion plans market, other activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, has planned the following events — open to members and non-members.
• Karaoke — 8 to 11 p.m. March 17
• Legion Indoor Market — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 25
• American Red Cross Blood Donation Station — 1 to 5 p.m. May 17. Register at www.redcrossblood.org.
Other regular events include:
• All-you-can-eat wing night is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, with all-you-can-eat wings costing $12
• Lunch specials (as well as regular menu) — starting at 11 a.m. weekdays
• Tenderloins available Fridays — starting at noon; a Treasure Hunt drawing takes place at 7:30 p.m.
• Pool on Sunday — beginning at noon, no charge
• The Legion’s general membership meeting is set for 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month.

Pendleton museum talks planned
PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum’s speaker program continues this year, with one talk remaining.
During the two-hour event, there will be time for questions from those in attendance.
Weather permitting, the remaining schedule will be as follows.
April 16 — Nancy Wynant on the 200th anniversary of the Pendleton Methodist Church.
The museum is located on Falls Park Drive in Falls Park.
Settlement annual meeting set
PENDLETON — Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement plans to play host to Madison County Historian Stephen Jackson, who will bring remarks on Madison County’s Bicentennial to its annual membership meeting, set for 6 p.m. March 29, at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.
There will also be updates on the Rogers Wagon project and availability of historic plaques for homes and businesses.
Refreshments will be served.
Sorority plans egg hunt
MARKLEVILLE — Psi Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority will sponsor its annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Markleville Community Park.
The park is located on State Road 38, west of Markleville.
There will be three age groups up to age 10.
People can take pictures with the Easter Bunny.
There will be drawings for Easter baskets full of goodies.
Talks will explore county’s history
ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society Inc. is presenting a series of “First Sunday” presentations covering the History of Madison County, set for 2 p.m. monthly in the Bowman Room at Museum of Madison County History, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.
Madison County Historian Stephen T. Jackson delivers the presentations, which provide an overview of Madison County’s history through historical highlights of each township.
Presentations will run about an hour each and are free.
Following the presentation, at about 3 p.m., Jackson will be signing his new book “Historic Events in a County Called Madison: The 20th Century.” This book and others will be available to purchase.

Cheerleaders to ‘egg’ yard again
PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School cheerleaders are conducting their second annual “Egg My Yard” fundraiser, just in time for Easter.
People can pay for a quantity of candy-filled eggs, and the cheerleaders will hide them the evening of April 8, in time for Sunday morning hunt.
The cost is $20 for 24 eggs, $45 for 50 eggs and $60 for 80 eggs.
Deadline to sign up is April 1.
Shred Day set for April 22
PENDLETON — SecurEstate’s 12th annual Shred Day is set for 9 to 11 a.m. April 22.
This event is open to the public, providing secure onsite shredding services at no cost.
There’s also no limit to the amount of paper people can bring, and people can watch while all the paper they bring is shredded onsite.
This is a drive-thru drop-off service. People are asked to enter the parking lot off Main Street.
SecurEstate is located at 100 S. Main St., Pendleton.
