Lester P. Burke, 84, Lapel, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness. He was born on Sept. 29, 1928, in Lapel, to Emory and Flo (Castor) Burke.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Becky (Webb) Burke; one daughter, Pam (Keith) Benzenbauer of Anderson; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Carroll Burke of Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jay Burke, Kenneth Burke, and Jerry Burke.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Humane Society.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice team, Autumn, April, and Hillary and the nursing staff on the fifth floor at Community Hospital for their kind care of Lester and their wonderful neighbors in Brookside addition.
