Thomas "Tom" Beckett, 67, Anderson, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie following a brief illness. He was born on March 22, 1945, in Nashville, Tenn., to John and Gertrude (Green) Beckett.

Thomas was a veteran of the Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Grace (Boles) Beckett; five children, Anna (Kevin) Short of Lapel, Donnovan (Tina) Beckett of Anderson, Cheryl Beckett of Anderson, Charles Beckett of Anderson, and Tonya (Anthony) Garza of Anderson; seven grandchildren; one sister, Harriett Trombatore of Texas; two brothers, John Beckett of Mt. Juliete, Tenn., and Joe Beckett of Athens, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Richard Cole officiating.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
