NEW CASTLE — Pendleton Heights gymnast Cassie Zehr continued to perform well and added another blue ribbon to her collection at her latest meet.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, at New Castle High School, in a meet originally scheduled at Roncalli High School, the Arabian sophomore picked up her second-straight first-place finish on her strongest apparatus, the beam, with a score of 9.0.

After collecting her first all-around title at the previous meet in Shelbyville, she came up just short this time around, finishing second.

She placed second on the vault with a score of 8.75, third in the floor exercise with an 8.75, and fourth on the bars with a score of 7.25. Her all-around total was 34.325, which turned out to more than a half-point higher than her first-place finish at Shelbyville.

Zehr’s final regular season meet is scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at New Castle, with the Trojans, Jay County and Muncie Central also scheduled to compete. She will then head to sectional the following Saturday, Feb. 25, at Connersville.
