CHICAGO — As the college spring sports season begins to wind down, conferences are presenting honors at their best student-athletes. In the past week, four local residents who have distinguished themselves have received such honors.

• Holy Cross freshman and 2016 Lapel graduate Natalia Campbell was named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference golf team Wednesday, May 3.

The week prior, Campbell placed sixth at the conference championship tournament, capping a season where the freshman placed in the top 10 every tournament this year. She showed a glimpse of what was to come when she won her first college event — the Crosstown Clash — with a 74.

Campbell is majoring in sports management.

• Fellow 2016 Lapel graduate Peighton Dobbins was named to the All-River States Conference Women’s Tennis second team this week. Dobbins was one of three IU-Southeast players named after helping the Grenadiers complete a 12-11 season.

• 2014 PHHS graduate Austin MacMillan was named Academic All-district by the College Sports Information Directors of America. His district is comprised of NCAA Division III schools in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

MacMillan, a junior at Elmhurst, is batting .282 this season with seven doubles and 19 runs scored. He is third on the team with 22 runs batted in. He is holding a 3.90 grade-point average awhile majoring in Biology.

As a first-team all-district honoree, Macmillan will be on the national ballot to earn Academic All-America honors. Those recipients will be announced late in May.

• Pendleton Heights alum and University of St. Francis sophomore Breanna Pryor was named to the All-Crossroads League softball first team for the second consecutive year.

Pryor led the league in stolen bases this season with 32, giving her 52 for her career, which is good enough for fourth on the school’s all-time list. She batted .420 this year with 63 hits and was fourth in the conference with a .476 on-base percentage.
