Julie Baer, 46, of Anderson, passed away at home surrounded by her family May 25, 2017, following a hard fought battle with breast cancer. Born on March 30, 1971, in Indianapolis, and was currently residing in Anderson.

Julie graduated from North Putnam High School and DePauw University.

She was an ICU nurse who later changed to school nursing because of her love for kids. She was enthusiastically named “Mama Baer” by the Pendleton Heights track and cross country teams. She was constantly volunteering her time and helping others. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was active in Adventure Kids Camp for Pendleton Christian Church.

Julie is survived by her loving spouse of 19 years, Joseph Baer; daughters, Faith Baer and Grace Baer; parents, Thomas and Joyce (Stevens) Strader; brothers, Thomas (Kelly) Strader, Todd (Diane) Strader, Troy (Tiffany Greene) Strader; mother-in-law, Joan Baer; sister-in-law, Lisa (Peter) Dewhirst and several nieces and nephews.

The family will received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at Pendleton Christian Church and from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 1, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Julie Baer (Mama Baer) Scholarship Fund through South Madison Community Foundation.
