PENDLETON–The season opening winning streak for the Pendleton Heights girls’ soccer team came to an end with a pair of losses Saturday.

The Arabians were edged by West Lafayette 3-2 and dropped a 4-2 decision to Chesterton in the Pendleton Heights Invitational.

“We never like to lose, but these games will go a long way in helping us improve and prepare for a conference season than if we were playing far inferior competition,” coach Kyle Davy said. “We need to be challenged, we need to face adversity, we need to fail in order for us to succeed in the long run.”

Juniors Taylor Fort and Claire Fendel each scored an Arabian goal in the loss to West Lafayette in the first game of the day.

Fort and Anna Childers scored the Pendleton Heights goals in the loss to Chesterton with Helena Talbot assisting on both.

Pendleton Heights (4-2) will open conference play Wednesday with a trip to Greenfield Central and a 6 p.m. start.
