CHARLOTTESVILLE–After a busy stretch of tennis, including the Madison County championship and a come from behind win against New Palestine, the Lapel Bulldogs were looking forward to a week off following Wednesday’s matches at Eastern Hancock.

Once the playing began, the Bulldogs would not be waiting long for that time off.

Lapel blasted the outmanned Royals 5-0 Wednesday, dropping just two games in the process.

Joseph Conrad, Jesse McCurdy, and Noah Wolfgang swept through the three singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Wolfgang was subbing for fellow senior Austin Lyons, given the day off after his extended match Tuesday against New Palestine.

The doubles teams also barely broke a sweat for Lapel as Zachary Krebs and Reid Ratzlaff breezed by Ian White and Jack Smith in the No. 1 doubles match and Ross Hagen and Dawson Allen knocked off Brady Ellis and Kaeden Smith in the No. 2 match by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores.

Lapel will return to the court Wednesday, September 6, when they host Warren Central at 5 p.m.
