TUSCALOOSA–University of Alabama junior and former Pendleton Heights volleyball star Quincey Gary set a school record over the weekend and earned Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Saturday, September 3.

Gary averaged 5.83 digs per set over the weekend with 70 digs in three matches. Her 31 digs against South Alabama Friday night is a University of Alabama record for most digs in a four-set match and represented a career-high for the 2015 Pendleton Heights graduate.

It was the most digs for an Alabama player since 2011.

With 30 digs in a five-set win over McNeese State Saturday night, Gary became just the second player in Crimson Tide history to have two matches with over 30 digs in the same season.
