Lapel shakes off rust, hammers Frankton

LAPEL–In their first tennis match in a week, the Lapel Bulldogs showed some rust, but were still too much for the visiting Frankton Eagles.

Lapel, ranked 19th in the state this week, routed the Eagles 5-0 Thursday afternoon.

Joseph Conrad defeated Landon Weins in the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3 and Jesse McCurdy nearly came away with a shutout in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mitchell Wiley in the No. 2 singles match. Austin Lyons dispatched Andrew Hartley 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match.

In doubles play, Zach Krebs and Reid Ratzlaff took care of Joe Morgan and Cameron Klabunde 6-3, 6-2 while Dawson Allen and Ross Hagen defeated Brad Riser and Elijah Hahn 6-2, 6-2 to complete the 5-0 win for Lapel (12-0).
