PENDLETON–The Mt. Vernon Marauders brought a perfect Hoosier Heritage Conference record, a traveling trophy, and a four match losing streak to Pendleton Thursday evening.

They only took one of those items home with them.

Abe Bohlsen and Drew DeLey scored first half goals and late defensive heroics made the lead stand up and the Arabians took back The Bell by knocking off Mt. Vernon 2-1.

Mt. Vernon dropped to 8-6 on the season with their fifth straight loss and finish HHC play at 6-1 while Pendleton Heights is now 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Bohlsen struck first to give the Arabians the lead when he scored off an assist from Mason Fridley. Later in the first half, Brennan Jones found DeLey for the second tally as Pendleton Heights made it to halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

Mt. Vernon came out with an aggressive offensive approach in the second half. It paid off when Jacob Knepper found the back of the net to cut the Arabian lead in half at 2-1.

But senior goal keeper Andrew Clemons, with help from a goal line save from Elijah Bauer, kept the Marauders out of the net the rest of the way to preserve the Pendleton Heights victory.

Pendleton Heights steps out of the conference for their next matchup, a Monday 7 p.m. start at Oak Hill.
