PENDLETON — A group on Pendleton Heights High School students doing a community service projects creating Falls Bark, a local dog park at Falls Park, are holding several fundraising events in the coming weeks to reach their goal of raising $15,000 for the cause.

Students, led by Logan Marshall, senior, have raised $5,000 so far through donations and projects for a fence and more, but they need about $10,000 more.

In an effort to raise the remainder of the money the students have created several community events.

Falls Bark Nights at Anita’s Kitchen:

The event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 29 to 31. Twenty percent of all tickets will go to Falls Bark and also help advertise Anita’s new hours on those days.

Lions Club Community Breakfast:

A community breakfast is set from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Falls Park Community Building. Cost is $6 per person and includes pancakes, eggs, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee.

Sugar, the Falls Bark mascot dog, will be at the breakfast to greet and thank all who come to make the dog park a reality.

All work at the dog park will be done by students. Seniors from the Pendleton Heights Class of 2017 came up with the idea for the project and obtained parks board approval. Students from this year’s senior class hope to complete the effort.

At Pendleton Heights, taking part in a senior community service project is a requirement to earn a summa cum laude diploma.
