PENDLETON —A Pendleton man was taken to hospital Friday, April 13, following a traffic accident at County Road 600 South and Grey Squirrel Drive.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Hunter Barger, 22, Pendleton, was driving a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on County Road 600 South, with the right of way, at about 4:50 p.m. when the accident happened.

Stacey. Bowers, 41, Pendleton, who was driving a 2014 Dodge van northbound on Grey Squirrel Drive, stopped at the intersection and then proceeded through the intersection into Barger’s path, sheriff’s department information states.

The department’s crash team responded to the accident.

Barger’s most serious injury appeared to be “severe trauma to an upper leg,” the report states.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s information states. Barger was transferred to an Indianapolis hospital and his status was not known, according to the sheriff’s department, but he was conscious and talking after the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
