Historical society to outline genealogy resources

ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society Inc. plans to meet to focus on its Genealogy Department’s general resources on May 14 at the Madison County History Center, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.

This is a program in a series designed to help people grow their family trees. It will take place in the Bowman room at 12:30 p.m.

The historical society’s genealogy library has many resources available. There are more than 2,000 family binders; cemetery records for each township in Madison County; binders with information on war veterans from the American Revolution to present day; Anderson and Elwood city directories that give addresses of the citizens; and church records by township of pioneer as well as present day churches.

Future meetings include: June 11, “Land records;” July 9, “Census;” and Aug. 13 “Computer/Websites.”

Meetings are open to historical society members and the public. There is no charge to attend. Call 765-683-0052 for more details.
