Judge, featured artist selected for July art show

PENDLETON — Ana Maria Pichardo, an art teacher and practicing artist, will be the judge for the Pendleton Artists Society “Summer Show,” set for July 6 to 31 at Gallery 119.

Pichardo will choose first, second and third place winners, and Honorable Mention, from artwork on display during the show’s opening night reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 6.

Visitors to the reception can vote for People Choice Award.

Pichardo is a graduate from Ball State University with a bachelor of science degree in art.

She taught art for many years in Muncie Community School Corp. and is director of communications for the district.

She has been an active artist member of ArtWorks Coop Gallery in Muncie.

Pichardo has received two Lilly Teacher Creativity Grants: The first was to study Navajo Tapestry Weaving Techniques in Colorado, and the second grant was for Photography to travel to the Dominican Republic to take photos of the people and the country.

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Featured artist

Lynne Medskar will be the featured artist during the “Summer Show.”

People can meet Medskar and various artists of the show during the July 6 reception.

Medskar has explored many artistic techniques, blending bits and pieces of each into her current style of work.

She shares her enthusiasm for artistic exploration in workshops and one-on-one instruction.

Medskar’s artwork is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad; it also has been on display in more than a dozen states.
