LAPEL — Playing host to a tournament with 18 teams is a good way for the Bulldogs to get a feel for what kind of season they are capable of having.

Lapel High School conducted the Bulldog Invitational Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Edgewood Golf Club in Anderson.

Richmond won with a team score of 338. Muncie Central was second with 351, and Franklin County was third with 369. The New Palestine Dragons were fourth with 370. Lapel finished fifth with a 374, while Pendleton Heights finished sixth with 378.

The Bulldogs were led by senior Kristen Hobbs, who fired a 79 and finished in sixth place among the individual golfers.

“I think we played — could have played better, but the girls’ attitudes were great,” coach Dylan Crosley said. “We just need to see some improvements during this week, since county is on Saturday. But other than that they fought til the end and didn’t quit, so that makes me very proud.”

Junior Danielle Tinsley shot an 85, the best score for the Arabians. Freshman Grace Wiggins shot a 91, senior Courtney Dawson shot a 97, sophomore Ryann Norris finished with a 105, and freshman Kaylee McKenney ended with a 114.

Earlier in the week, Lapel took part in the Manchester Invitational. The Bulldogs finished fourth overall with a team total of 388.

It produced the top golfer of the event, Hobbs, who shot an 18-hole score of 80.
