South Madison officials receive educational funding, schools earns common sense distinction

PENDLETON — South Madison Community School Corp. has earned recognition two educational areas.

District leaders reported the Indiana Commission for Higher Education awarded the district $6,300 for their Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch training during the 2018-19 school year.

This included professional development and a STEM academy in July.

Leaders also learned the corporation also earned the Common Sense District Certification, an honor that recognizes the efforts of the staff in teaching digital citizenship.

They said each elementary school, several staff members and the district have been certified through Common Sense Education for digital citizenship.

Common Sense District is an organization promoted by the Indiana Department of Education for high quality resources on digital literacy.
