Gallery offers variety of art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans art classes regularly at Gallery 119 in Pendleton:

• Watercolor with artist/instructor Judy Crist. Crist was the artist for Firehouse Color Labs. She owned and operated her own photography and photo arts studio. She served on the board of professional photographers of Indiana two times and has taught many seminars across Indiana for photographic art.

Crist’s beginning watercolor class will be creating a watercolor of daisies in a field. This image will teach several techniques, and she will discuss the different supplies and how they are used.

The class is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, with an hour break for lunch, for which people are on their own.

Cost for the class is $50, which does not cover supplies.

• Painting with Diane Burrell, with Session 1 from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 26 and Oct. 9, 16 and 23; Session 2 is from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, 13 and 20.

The two four-week sessions will focus on helping students develop their own painting skills.

Students will develop their own paintings. A still life will be provided, or people may bring their own photos or set up their own still life.

Most students work in acrylic and if needed, paints and brushes will be available for $10 per week. Students are free to use oils or watercolor if that is their preference. A supply list will be available upon registration for the class.

Be sure to list the session you are signing up for when registering.

Cost for the class is $45 for the four sessions or $15 per week.

The gallery is located at 119 W. State St.
