Artists society offers classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans art classes regularly at Gallery 119 in Pendleton:

• Painting with Diane Burrell — 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6, 13 and 20. Burrell will have classes for three more weeks on Tuesdays, teaching and helping students develop their own painting skills.

Students will develop their own paintings. A still life will be provided, or people may bring photos or set up a still life. Most students work in acrylic.

Cost for the class is $15 per week.

If needed, paints and brushes will be available for $10 per week.

A supply list will be available upon registration for the class.

• Oil Painting with Katie Burke — Burke’s monthly class is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 (with a break for lunch). The painting is of a fall landscape on a 16-by-20-inch canvas.

For students using their own paints and brushes, the cost for the class is $45. For those using provided paints and brushes, the cost is $55.

• Coffee and Paint with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 2, 9 and 30, and Dec. 14

Participants will be encouraged to paint in their own style in acrylics. All level of painters are welcome.

Paints and brushes will be available for $10 per week for those who do not have their own. The cost for all four sessions is $45 (or $15 per session).

Lions Club annual fruit sale on

LAPEL — Lapel Lions Club is taking orders for fresh citrus fruit from Florida.

The cost of a 20-pound (2/5 of a bushel) box of navel oranges or red grapefruit is $30.

A 40-pound (4/5 of a bushel) box of each is $40.

Prices are the same as last year.

Orders must be placed by Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Fruit will be available for pickup at the Lions Building, 329 S. Main St., Lapel, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

PAS November art show set

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s November show titled “Christmas In Pendleton” is slated to run Nov. 2 to Dec. 25 at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St.

The society’s First Friday reception is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2.

It is open to the public. There will be hors d’oeuvres, and people will have the chance to vote for their favorite piece of art in the show, meet the artists, sign up for classes and buy art.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Library features World War II talk

PENDLETON — Pendleton Community Public Library has a veterans-related event planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 5.

Ron May, Indiana author of “Our Service, Our Stories (Volumes 1 & 2),” will share stories of World War II veterans with Central Indiana connections.

Quilt group to discuss fabric

PENDLETON — Spring Valley Quilt Guild will meet Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Capi Saxton from Always in Stitches will talk about Shibori fabric.

Color of the month will be Cadet Blue.

The group will select officers for 2019-20, celebrate the 2019 Quilt Show Honoree and collect annual dues ($10).

The guild meets the first Wednesday each month except September. Meetings take place in the Community Room of Pendleton Public Library, 595 E. Water St.

Social time starts at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Guests are welcome.

Outfitters plans open house

PENDLETON — Outfitters Inc., the non-profit organization that provides clothing to local families in need, is planning an open house for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13.

The public is welcome to walk through the store, located at 880 S. Pendleton Ave., see the services the organization provides and learn about volunteer opportunities.

Light refreshments will be served.
