American Legion events coming up

PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, has several activities remaining this month.

Artists society offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans art classes regularly at Gallery 119 in Pendleton:

• Painting with Diane Burrell — 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20. Burrell will have class for one more week on Tuesday, teaching and helping students develop their own painting skills.

Students will develop their own paintings. A still life will be provided, or people may bring photos or set up a still life. Most students work in acrylic.

Cost for the class is $15 per week.

If needed, paints and brushes will be available for $10 per week.

A supply list will be available upon registration for the class.

• Coffee and Paint with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 30 and Dec. 14

Participants will be encouraged to paint in their own style in acrylics. All level of painters are welcome.

• Mommy and Me Jewelry Class — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 17. Brenda Jarrett will teach a painting on metal jewelry class for a child (5 and older) and adult taking the class together. One circular pendant for the adult and one for the child will be made using resist technique. Cost is $30 and includes supplies.

• Painting With Gini Deaton — 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. Deaton’s subject is titled “Mother and Calf” and is a picture of a cow and baby. No drawing is required, and all levels of painters are welcome. Cost is $65 per person and includes supplies. Participants are asked to bring paper towels.

Facial pain support group to meet

PENDLETON — Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group of Central Indiana plans a care and share meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Trinity Life Center, 5900 State Road 13 South, Pendleton.

People are welcome to share their struggles battling TN, including successes and failures.

It’s also a good time to ask questions and learn more about TN, doctors, treatments and how to deal with daily life with the excruciating pain caused by it.

The group’s next meeting is planned for March. Others 2019 meetings will take place in May, July, September and November.

Willow workshop coming to library

PENDLETON — Indiana artisan Greg Adams will lead a willow workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St., Pendleton.

Adams, who has crafted willow furniture for more than 30 years and owns Willow by Greg Adams in Lapel, will guide participants through the process of creating a rustic willow wreath and star.

PENDLETON — Pendleton Swim Club plans two sessions of swim lessons, with each session scheduled on six consecutive Saturdays.

The first session will begin Nov. 17, and the second session will begin in January.

PAS November art show set

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s November show titled “Christmas In Pendleton” is slated to run through Dec. 25 at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St.

It is open to the public. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Local author plans to attend author fair

INDIANAPOLIS — David Humphrey of Pendleton is set to sign copies of his book “Indiana’s Lost National Road” at the Indiana Historical Society’s (IHS’s) Holiday Author Fair Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, 450 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis.

Humphrey is among 70 authors participating at the free annual event.

The history center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the author fair taking place from noon to 4 p.m.

Book topics will range from biography and sports to youth historical fiction and politics.

The day of the author fair, IHS will offer free admission to the Indiana Experience and its holiday exhibit, Festival of Trees, open Nov. 16 through Jan. 5.
