Lapel faced Burris on Saturday, Nov. 10, picking up a blowout on the road.

The home court advantage didn’t help the Owls as the Bulldogs outscored them 18-2 in the first quarter and 22-3 in the second quarter, leaving little doubt as to what the outcome would be.

Lapel had a balanced attack with Kylie Rich and Makynlee Taylor leading the way with 15 apiece. Other top scorers were Morgan Knepp with 12, Ashlynn Allman with 11, Lily Daniels with nine and Delaney Peoples with eight.

Knepp also had seven rebounds and seven assists, while Taylor added five rebounds and eight steals. Allman had eight rebounds, and Daniels was tops in assists with eight.

Two day prior, Lapel beat Scecina Memorial in another blowout, this time at home. The Bulldogs got off to a good start, jumping out 13-7 in the first quarter and 14-6 in the second quarter.

Knepp led all Bulldogs scorers in the game with 13 points. She hit 5-of-7 shots, while teammate Kylie Rich put in 12 points. Allman chipped in 11.

Peoples led the Bulldogs with eight rebounds, seven on the defensive boards.

Coach Zack Newby, speaking about the Westfield loss — in which the Bulldogs were missing a few players — said he was pleased overall.

“We battled to within one point in the first half, but just ran out of gas.”

He said he liked the progress he saw by the time of the Muncie Burris game.

“As we’re going along, we’re getting an offensive flow and picking up aggressiveness,” Newby said.

Lapel has a three-game road trip with games at Frankton on Nov. 16, Alexandria-Monroe on Nov. 21 and Yorktown on Nov. 27.

The Bulldogs return home Dec. 4 to face Madison-Grant.
