Lapel students inducted into NHS

LAPEL — The following Lapel High School students were inducted into the National Honor Society recently for the 2018-19 school year.

Senior NHS: Savannah Smock, Riley McClintock and Danielle Ely. Junior NHS: Cole Alexander, Makenna Bauer, Addie Boone, Luke Combs, Dalton Cox, Zoe Freer, Tobias Fry, Logan Gephardt, Anthony Gonzalez, Parker Graham, Ana Handwork, Carson Huber, Karlie Hutton, Lauren Lutz, Benjamin Manning, Jesse McCurdy, Sydni Marshall, Eric Moore, Quentin Norrick, Delany Peoples, Catelyn Poorman, Luke Rich, Isabella Rolston, Brooklyn Rudicil, Tea Schmidt, Maria Stacey, Caitlin Stewart, Collin Stewart, Megan Sundheimer, Makynlee Taylor, Matthew Teeters, Justin Tychek, Morgan Walsh, Clark Webb, Anna Willis

According to National Honor Society, students in 10th through 12th grades who meet certain requirements are eligible to be invited for membership.

Qualification for membership is based on four pillars:

Scholarship — At minimum, students must have a cumulative grade-point average of 85, B, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standard of excellence.

Service — This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.

Leadership — Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

Character — The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.
