LAPEL — Dylan Crosley has taken over the helm of the Lapel High School boys golf team this season and is ready for the new challenge.
Crosley is 2011 graduate of Lapel, where he played varsity golf throughout his high school career; he also played at Manchester College, from which he graduated in 2015.
With 10 players out for the team this season, the Bulldogs are loaded with experience.
“Most of my golfers have played in the invitationals, the county and matches from last season,” Crosley said.
The Bulldogs roster consists of five seniors, two juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen. Ian Vipperman, Logan McAtee and Jaxon Fetty are co-captains and played in the sectional last year.
Crosley’s key to success for the Bulldogs is simple: Hard work.
“My expectations for the season are if the guys work hard, do the best they can and leave the golf course with a happy attitude, I’ll be happy,” Crosley said.
He believes with all of those factors, the Bulldogs are in contention for a Madison County title and could possibly make it out of a tough Noblesville sectional, which includes Noblesville, Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern, as well as county foes Anderson and Pendleton Heights.
According to Crosley, the Arabians could be a challenge.
“They have a solid team coming into this season, and I feel as though it’ll come down to them and us in the county,” he said. “It’ll be a fun tournament.”
The Bulldogs open their season April 11 against Clinton Central with Elwood on the Bulldogs’ home course at Edgewood.
