PENDLETON — Applications for the $10,000 “Open Hearts, Open Purses” grant are now available.

Open Hearts, Open Purses is the Women’s Giving Circle initiative of South Madison Community Foundation, a local organization focused on creating positive change and lasting impact in the communities it serves. The mission of Open Hearts, Open Purses is to provide financial resources to organizations for projects that improve the lives of individuals and families in local communities. Since 2010, Open Hearts, Open Purses has awarded grants totaling more than $100,000.

Open Hearts, Open Purses will again award a $10,000 grant to a local organization for a project specifically benefiting residents of Adams, Fall Creek, Green and/or Stony Creek Townships of Madison County. The grant will be awarded at a special presentation on the evening of June 13.

Only 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, tax-supported or educational organizations (parks, libraries, schools) are eligible to submit a request for funding. However, other entities — private, for profit, faith-based, grassroots community organizations, service clubs, and similar — may partner with one or more eligible organizations to propose collaborative programs. For such programs, the eligible organization will act as fiscal agent for any funds awarded to the work of the collaborative project. While the organization does not have to be physically located in these townships, the proposed project(s) must benefit individuals and families living in them.

Applicants are invited (though not required) to attend an informational meeting with foundation staff prior to grant submission. Call Lisa at 765-778-8444 or send email to [email protected] to arrange a mutually convenient time.
