PENDLETON — In a rematch of the Madison County tournament finals, Pendleton Heights and Lapel met at Bill Stoudt Field Tuesday. The Arabians came away with a 3-1 Senior Night win.

“It’s always good to let the seniors enjoy this day,” Arabian coach Travis Keesling said.

Lapel started the first inning with hits from Bledsoe and Shirley. Bledsoe scored when Parker Allman hit into a fielder’s choice. The Arabians answered with three runs on three hits and a Lapel error at the bottom of the first.

After strikeouts buy Noah Clark and Shirley, the Bulldogs loaded the bases in the top of the third, but David Rebenack grounded out to end the inning.

Evan Douglas tripled for the Arabians.

Pitcher Schuyler Haynes was relieved by Logan Mitchell in the sixth inning. Haynes’ Senior Night performance had seven strikeouts and allowed just four Bulldog hits and had an RBI.

“Obviously, the offense needed a little improvement tonight,” Bulldog coach Matt Campbell said. “I’d still like to see every facet of the game improvement at some point.”

Campbell has seen both strides ahead and settling into some bad habits. “Hopefully, the light comes on before sectionals.”

It was a defensive game with the only scoring in the first inning.

“We got to find the offense. Right now, we are struggling,” Keesling said. “It’s in there somewhere. The guys have to keep trusting the process.”

The Arabians are 14-7, while the Bulldogs are 12-11.
