Lapel softball ends regular season 13-9

LAPEL — The Lapel softball team ended regular season play a home win over Alexandria-Monroe May 15.

The 6-2 win brought its season record to 13-9 and earned the Bulldogs a No. 12 ranking in the Indiana High School Coaches of Girls Sports Association Class 2A poll for the week of May 13.

In the game, Chloe Bousman got the win for the Bulldogs. Addie Bailey was perfect at the plate with three hits in three appearances, which included a double and triple. Kylie Rich added two hits.

May 13, the Bulldogs suffered a 9-4 home loss to the Ritter Raiders.

Lapel takes swing at district rival

LAPEL — The Lapel golf team defeated Frankton, 197-170, on its home course May 15.

Scores: Ross Hagen 39 (medalist), Corby Carroll 41, Brandon Wood 42, Jaxon Fetty 44, Corbin Renihan 46, Blaine Teeters 46, Ian Vipperman 47, Kaden Camp 48, Connor Benedict 54.

The Bulldogs played host to Anderson on May 21 (after press time) and travel to Hamilton Heights on May 29 for their final regular-season match.

Arabians 13th at invitational

YORKTOWN — Pendleton Heights finished 13th out of 19 teams Saturday, May 18, in the 18-hole Muncie Central Invitational at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.

The Arabians had a team score of 358, finishing ahead of Oak Hill, Richmond, Bishop Chatard, Delta, Shenandoah and Frankton. Carmel won the event with a 298.

In a nine-hole dual meet at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course, Pendleton Heights lost 161-184 to Greenfield-Central on Tuesday, May 14.

Wyatt Weaver had the low round for the Arabians with a 40.

Lapel season ends at sectional

LAPEL — After breezing through a 5-0 sectional win against Anderson Prep, the Lapel tennis team faced a tougher challenge in Round 2.

It fell 3-2 to eventual champion Alexandria-Monroe.

Despite the loss, both doubles teams advanced to continue play in the individual tournament at Marion May 21. In No. 1 doubles, the team of Emily Eppert and Zoe Freer advanced by virtue of their 7-5, 6-2 win versus Carlie Remington and Reiley Hiser.

Also representing Lapel was the No. 2 doubles team of Makayla McDole and Mariah Mason, who took out Tiger opponents Taylor Stinefield and Gracyn Hosier 6-4, 6-2 in the sectional.
