LAPEL — Cold temperatures and rain can spoil any well-planned outdoor event, but Lapel Village Fair organizers had nothing to worry about in that regard during this year’s event.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the high 80s or 90s on Friday and Saturday made for a great celebration overall.

“Everything went off as planned — it turned out to be a really good festival,” booth coordinator Margo Sink said.

She said the car show and parade went very well, and that she heard no complaints about anything and only positive feedback from vendors.

The high heat did take its toll on some people, Sink said.

“We had two women get sick from the heat,” she said.

First responders were helping them within two minutes, Sink said, and both “were taken to (the)hospital and are OK.”

Besides communitywide rummage, vendor booths and live music throughout the fair, other highlights included a street dance and hot-air balloon rides on Friday, and a 5K run, Doug Anderson concert and outdoor movie on Saturday.
