MADISON COUNTY — Two Republican town conventions are set for South Madison County next week to determine nominees for the General Election in November.

A convention is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Lapel High School to determine the candidates for three Lapel Town Council at-large seats.

Five Republican candidates have filed — Chad Blake, Stephanie Evelo, Jason Kleinbub, Teresa (Reddick) Retherford and Deb Wainscott. Kleinbub and Wainscott are current council members. Tony Pearson holds the third seat but is not running again.

No challengers from other parties filed by the noon Aug. 1 deadline.

A convention for the Pendleton Town Council District 5 at-large seat is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Pendleton Heights Middle School.

Candidates are Tom Alley, Shane Davis and Mike Romack. The winner will face Democrat Lisa A. Floyd.

According to Madison County Republican Chairman Russ Willis, anyone who cast a Republican ballot in the 2018 primary election can vote at the conventions.
