Teachers group plans meeting
ANDERSON — Madison County Retired Teachers Association has scheduled its fall meeting for the 2019-20 year on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Anderson Country Club in Anderson.
Registration runs from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
Following the plated meal luncheon ($15) and a short business meeting, there will be a presentation by Beth Tharp, president and CEO of Community Hospital Anderson.
Her topic is “The Future of Medicine and Senior Health.”

‘Keepers’ plan monthly meal
MARKLEVILLE — Christian Women’s Fellowship (C.W.F.) “Comfort Keepers” of the East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Markleville will have its monthly “God Abundance Meal” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the lower fellowship hall of the church.
The menu includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls, assorted desserts and drink with a free-will offering accepted.
East Christian Church is located at 124 E. Main St. (on State Road 38) in Markleville and is accessible to people with disabilities.
Carryout is available. Shut-ins or small business in the immediate area who would like carryout delivered can call the church at 765-533-4996 on the day of the meal or Diane at 765-533-2330 as early as possible.
The next abundance meal is planned for Oct. 9.
Group plans ‘Dash to Wabash’
ANDERSON — Seats are available in the motor coach for Madison County Historical Society’s fundraising trip to Wabash Saturday, Sept. 14.
A group will leave Anderson at 8:20 a.m. and return by 6 p.m.
Stops on the trip include James Dean Gallery, Wabash Historical Museum, Doctor James Ford Historical Home and Crow’s Nest Antique Mall.
Trip cost is $65 per person, not including lunch.
