PENDLETON — The sixth annual Friends of the Pendleton Community Library Lucky Duck Race is set for 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Falls Park in Pendleton.
The Friends group has been selling rubber ducks for several months for $5 each and expects to race almost 800 of them in Fall Creek during the event.
Along with bragging rights, first-, second- and third-place winners will receive prize packages of $150, $100 and $75, respectively.
A sponsor race is also planned, with the winner’s name added the Duck Race Plaque displayed at the library.

Activities are planned before and after the race during a Finish Line Party near the falls, beginning with with 8-foot blowup duck QuackerJack’s storytime at 12:30 p.m.
DJ Push Play will entertain the crowd from 1 to 3 p.m.
Pendleton Heights Middle School Band and cheerleaders also will perform during the event.
Other activities planned include sidewalk chalk drawing, duck tattoos, duck toss and photos with QuackerJack.
A “Duck Yoga” session also is planned for 9 a.m. with South Madison Community Foundation, with Connie Rector as host.
The Lucky Duck Race is a fundraiser for Friends, which helps the library offer various programs and activities to the community.
