PENDLETON — Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility recently promoted five staff members.

Travis Ball was promoted from Youth Development Specialist to Psychiatric Social Service Specialist 3.

Ball began his career with Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC)in September 2017 and holds a bachelor of science degree in social work.

He is a member of the Crisis Awareness Response Team.

Calvin Funches was promoted from Psychiatric Social Service Specialist 3 to Program Director 2.

Funches began his career with IDOC in March 2006.

He served in the U.S. Army and holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration.

He has experience as a security skills instructor and as a member of the Quick Response Team.

Aric Gutierrez was promoted from Youth Development Specialist to Correctional Sergeant.

Gutierrez began his career with IDOC in January 2019.

He brings with him previous correctional experience as a correctional officer and a residential supervisor for the Department of Children and Families of Florida.

Gutierrez is a member of the Crisis Awareness Response Team.

Joanna Johnson was promoted from Youth Development Specialist to Correctional Sergeant.

Johnson began her career with IDOC in March 2016.

She is a member of the Crisis Awareness Response Team.

Matthew McFarland was promoted from Youth Development Specialist to Psychiatric Social Service Specialist 3.

McFarland began his career with the IDOC in June 2017 and holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.

He is a member of the Crisis Awareness Response Team with previous experience as a first responder, a member of the Quick Response Team and as a field training manager.

“Every one of these staff members holds unique experience and the ability to offer outstanding supervision to our facility,” Warden Angela Sutton wrote in an email. “I look forward to watching them grow in their new roles.”
