Art classes planned at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society offers art classes at Gallery 119, 119 W. State St. in Pendleton.

• Pottery Class with Janae Ledbetter — 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 13, 20 and 27, and Oct. 4, with Oct. 11 for glazing. Students will choose from several options regarding what they want to create. Students will learn several different techniques, including hand-building and working on the pottery wheel. Class fee is $80, which includes all supplies. • “Finding Your Voice” painting class with Diane Burrell — 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 8. Classes are for those who want to develop their own style. Students work at their own pace. There will be a variety of demos and painting techniques, including palette knife, building and layers. Students can learn to create their own color palette based on sound color theory principles. All media and painting levels are welcome. Class fee $50.

• Class with Tracy Davidson and Karen Zane — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 with lunch break. Davidson and Zane will combine their talents in a gourd class. Participants will learn to dye a gourd with various colors and styles of stain to choose from, or leave it natural. Then, they will weave a top trim, add beading, etch copper embellishments and add fold forming copper feathers for a gourd basket. Supplies and tools are included in the $50 class fee.

• Oil Paint With Gini Deaton — 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 29. Participants will get to paint “A Bear’s Breakfast.” Students will use an Alla Prima oil technique to paint a misty mountain scene with a bear on a 12-inch-by-16-inch canvas. Class fee is $60 and includes supplies. All levels of painters are welcome.

Lapel Lions fish fry on the menu

LAPEL — Lapel Lions Club will play host to its 73rd annual all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Sept. 12-14) at the Lions building, 329 S. Main St., Lapel.

The price for an adult meal will be $12 and will include a drink (coffee, lemonade, tea, and water).

There will be children’s meals sold a la carte, as well as sandwiches (fish, tenderloins and hot dogs).

There also will be choices of sides and desserts.

Entertainment on Thursday evening will be the Lapel High School Band performing at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s entertainment is the 4-Leaf Clovers at 5:30 p.m., J.T. Si FUENTES at 6:30 p.m. and the Lapel Show Choir making its debut for the 2019-20 school year at 7:30 p.m.

Drawings for the door prizes will begin at 8 p.m.

Group plans ‘Dash to Wabash’

ANDERSON — Seats are available in the motor coach for Madison County Historical Society’s fundraising trip to Wabash Saturday, Sept. 14.

A group will leave Anderson at 8:20 a.m. and return by 6 p.m.

Stops on the trip include James Dean Gallery, Wabash Historical Museum, Doctor James Ford Historical Home and Crow’s Nest Antique Mall.

Trip cost is $65 per person, not including lunch.

Church revival set for Sunday

PENDLETON — Huntsville/Good Shepherd Community Church, 3126 W. Market St., Pendleton, is planning a revival beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Rev. Mark Lantz will preach at the morning service and will be joined at 6 p.m. Sunday by The Riddells and their music ministry.

Lantz and The Riddells will come together again at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, through Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Drug prevention summit next week

ANDERSON — East Central Indiana Drug Prevention Summit, presented by Intersect and Children’s Bureau, is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Madison Park Church, 6607 Providence Lane, Anderson.
