Christmas concert on tap in Lapel

LAPEL — The Lapel High School Music Department will present its annual Christmas show at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.

All high school bands and choirs will participate.

Adult admission costs $5; students and children will be admitted free of charge.

Food drive planned for Saturday

PENDLETON — The public will have a chance to donate to the Pendleton Community Public Library’s food pantry, part of the its Read ‘n’ Feed program

The Real Estate Pros will be helping collect non-perishable food donations from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Quack Daddy Donuts, 106 W. State St., Pendleton.

The donut shop will offer photos with Santa in exchange for a food pantry donation.

“Coming together as a community and supporting such a wonderful program is a great way to celebrate this holiday season,” wrote Heather Upton, team owner of The Real Estate Pros, in a press release. “A few non-perishable items that can be added to their inventory will go a long way to helping those who need it, especially during the holidays. It’s a win-win for everyone!”

Items needed include ready-to-eat soup (not condensed), oatmeal packets, tuna, peanut butter, sauces (marinara, BBQ, salsa), cereal, sugar, flour and canned goods.

Anderson church offers live nativity

ANDERSON — A live nativity is planned for Dec. 14 and 15 at Maple Grove Church of God, 2729 E. 38th St., Anderson, Dec. 14 and 15.

There will be performances at 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m.

Art class planned at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society has the following art class planned at Gallery 119, 119 W. State St. in Pendleton.

• Oil painting with Gini Deaton — 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. Participants will paint a “Holiday Wreath.” Cost is $50 and includes all supplies.

Lapel church to present cantata

LAPEL — Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel will present its annual Christmas Cantata at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in the sanctuary.

The 30-member choir will be accompanied by a small orchestra in addition to Rhonda Kuntz, church pianist, and Jim Hostetler, organist.

There’s no admission fee.

Society’s juried art show on display

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Seventh Annual Juried Art Show is ongoing at Gallery 119, located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton

The show will continue through the end of this month during regular business hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Fire department seeks event sponsors

LAPEL — Lapel-Stony Creek Township Fire Department is planning its seventh annual reverse raffle fundraiser event for Saturday, Jan. 25, and is seeking business sponsorships.

Businesses are able to support the department through these levels:

• 5-alarm sponsor — $1,000 (four event tickets)

• 4-alarm sponsor — $500 (two event tickets)

• 3-alarm sponsor — $250 (one event ticket)

Sponsors should reply to [email protected] by Dec. 20. Sponsors who want additional tickets should include that request with their email.

The department will presell 150 tickets at $75 each to attend the event.

Each ticket includes admission, dinner, drinks, prizes and giveaways. Individual tickets will go on sale after sponsorships are arranged.

The department also is accepting items to be auctioned and raffled, including gift cards and company apparel.

Business or individual names will be announced throughout the night of the event as a donor/sponsor as well as posted on the department’s social media accounts.
