PAS announces winners of juried show

PENDLETON — The winners of Gallery 119’s December juried art show were announced at their first Friday event on December 6th.

The show was judged by Beth Forst, and winners received cash awards: $300 for first place; $200 for second place; $100 for third place; and $50 for People’s Choice.

The first-place winner was David Bradshaw, who won the top prize with his oil giclee titled "Somewhat Nosey."

Other winners were: Carla Corbin, second place for her mixed media fiber work "Horses of Another Color;" Tamara Magers, third place for her oil painting titled "The Unfolding;" and Lynn Rockwell, who earned People’s Choice, based on votes cast during a Dec. 6 open house, for his watercolor painting titled "An Indiana Snow." Rockwell also received an honorable mention for the piece from Forst.

Other honorable mentions were given to: Akara Karkosky for "Tiger Lilly Surprise," a Styrofoam mixed media piece; Tracy Davidson for "Climbing Flowers," and enamel, moonstone and sterling work;  Aaron McDermott for "Changes," mixed media-photography; George Harris for "Classical Megan," pencil on paper; and Katy Burke for "If Life Hands You Lemons," an oil painting.

The show will be open at the gallery, 199 W. State St., Pendleton, through December during regular business hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
