FRANKTON — Boy Scouts of America Camp Kikthawenund conducted a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 26, to honor the late Ed Bollman and Roger Chezem.

Bollman was an Indiana conservation officer from Lapel, and Chezem was a BSA Scoutmaster of Troop 301 from Anderson; both died in an ice fishing accident at Camp Kikthawenund in 2018.

An area has been set aside with a rock with a plaque and benches facing the lake to honor the two men for their work with youth.

DNR Honor Guard presented the colors for the event. The Rev. Thomas Metzger of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson and the Scoutmaster Adam Gwaltney from Boy Scout Troop 301 in Anderson officiated the ceremony.

Speakers were Andy Wuestefeld, a DNR conservation officer; Belinda Bollman, wife of Ed Bollman; Michelle Chezem, daughter of Roger Chezem; and Mike Chezem, nephew of Roger Chezem.

About 100 people attended the ceremony with a luncheon afterward.

Funding for the project was made possible by Lapel Trinity United Methodist Church and St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
