Park harvest festival planned

GREEN TOWNSHIP — The first Green Township Harvest Festival is set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, at Green Township Community Park (formerly Fortville Community American Legion Park), 10609 S. State Road 13.

There will be booths, including Scentsy, home decor, body scrubs, handmade crafts, hair accessories, jewelry, clothing, glassware, toys, collectibles, video games, tools, electronics, food and more.

Hand sanitation stations and restrooms will be on site.

Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 is offering art classes with a limited number of students.

The next scheduled classes are:

Paint Bob Ross Style with Gini Deaton — 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. Deaton will instruct students in painting an autumn scene using the Bob Ross style of painting. Participants will learn to use an acrylic background to add depth to paintings as well as techniques to add tree foliage and an old gnarly tree. Class fee is $50 and includes all supplies. Maximum of eight students.

Pottery with Janae Ledbetter — five morning (10 a.m. to noon) or evening (6 to 8 p.m.) sessions, on Oct. 21, 28, Nov. 4, 11, and Dec. 2. This class is for all skill levels. Christmas-themed pieces will be discussed. People can bring their own ideas or let Ledbetter guide them. Cost is $80 and includes supplies. Limit is five students per class.

Lapel Lions fish fry set for Oct. 10

LAPEL — Lapel Lions Club plans a final fish fry of the year from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the club house, 329 S. Main St., Lapel.

The drive-thru event will feature the club’s breaded and fried fish normally served at its three-day fish fry.

Meals will cost $8 and include two sides. Extra fish is available for an extra cost.

Art of Fine Dining raffle tickets

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society at Gallery 119 is selling raffle tickets for The Art of Fine Dining.

Raffle tickets cost $10 each or three for $25.

Drawing will take place at the society’s First Friday event at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

The winner will receive more than $500 worth of gift certificates from the following restaurants: The Bank, Texas Roadhouse, Anita’s Kitchen, Riviera Maya, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, Hacienda Vieja, Madison’s St8 Street Bistro, Catello’s, Moontown, Wolfe’s and Vera Mae’s.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton, or from PAS members.

Raffle proceeds will help PAS defray losses incurred during the pandemic.

County history museum reopens

ANDERSON — Museum of Madison County History, operated by Madison County Historical Society, was set to reopen beginning Wednesday.

Public hours going forward will be 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Appointments are no longer necessary.

Some restrictions will continue: face masks must be worn, temperatures will be taken, and social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing will be encouraged.

People feeling sick are asked to stay home.

The museum features an exhibit titled “WW II County Heroes and Home Front” and a new permanent display of “Native Americans of Madison County.”
