PENDLETON — The basketball league with Hoosier in its name will play its all-star game at a facility that was home to the movie “Hoosiers” team.

Hoosier Hardwood Basketball Association, the fledgling professional basketball league founded by Indiana great Kent Benson and former Pendleton resident Bob Petty, has announced the first-year league’s all-star game will be played Saturday, April 3, at Hoosier Gym, the home of the Hickory Huskers in the movie “Hoosiers.”

Hoosier Gym is located in Knightstown.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The league has four teams located in Indiana, including the Pendleton Legends, who are in first place.

The Legends are led by former Pendleton Heights and Butler University star Kellen Dunham, who will be one of the Legends representatives in Saturday’s game.

Players from the Legends and Terre Haute Sharp Shooters are on the East All-Star team. Players from the New Castle NightHawks and Southern Indiana Timberjacks, located in Bedford, make up the West.

Along with Dunham, who is averaging 29 points per game, other Legends on the East squad include Asauhn Tatum, Devonte Smith, Aaron Larson and Troy Taylor.

Tatum, at Anderson Highland, and Taylor, at Anderson, played high school basketball in Madison County, as well as having Division I college and professional experience. Tatum played at Auburn and later in the NBA G-League. Taylor played at the University of Evansville and professionally in Canada.

Dunham, Tatum, Larson and Taylor were all selected as starters.

Along with the all-star game, there will be a slam dunk and 3-point shooting contest.

The Legends are 5-1 and lead the second-place TimberJacks, who have a 3-2 mark.
