Pendleton ‘full of good people’

On Thursday around 5 p.m., my wife and I were driving in Downtown Pendleton when our Ford Escape stopped.

Couldn’t push it because everything locked up.

I got out of the car and immediately a woman stopped behind me and asked if she could help push the car.

Then a fellow from the nearby restaurant came out and then another from the sidewalk and then every car slowed and offered to help.

The car could not be moved, so I called a tow company, and even though he was on his way home, Frankies Towing came quickly! He quickly diagnosed the problem, but didn’t have the tool to fix it, so called another fellow who showed up, and we fixed the car.

I asked how much, and he said I owed him nothing.

The next morning, we walked into the western hat shop and started a conversation with Pick and Stumpy. Truth be known, I am a middle of the road Democrat, and we carried on a conversation for about 30 minutes about homeless, guns, Antifa, Black Lives Matter and Jan. 6.

We didn’t agree, but we both listened, and I walked away thinking my car decided to break down in a city full of good people.

Thank you, Pendleton.
