LAPEL — Lapel High School has hired Tod Windlan to be its next varsity boys basketball coach.

Windlan most recently coached the boys team at Sheridan High School. In one season with the Blackhawks, Windlan’s club finished with a 12-11 record.

A veteran coach, Windlan has most of his head coaching experience as a girls basketball coach, including leading Hamilton Heights to a Class 3A state runner-up finish in 2013. His teams at Carmel High School won consecutive sectional titles from 2016-18.

Longtime LHS coach Jimmie Howell resigned in December. Justin Coomer took over as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

The Bulldogs finished with an 8-16 record and were eliminated in the sectional semifinals.
