PENDLETON — People have until 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, to bid on eight pieces of art created through “The Art of Friendship,” a program started last year by the Pendleton Artists Society and Pendleton’s Best Buddies Citizens.

Pendleton Artists Society is a non-profit artist group aimed at growing the arts in Pendleton.
Pendleton’s Best Buddies Citizens is a non-profit organization that supports the development of friendships between adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its aim, according to its Facebook page, is “to help create an inclusive and diverse community for all. Creating opportunities for social interaction is a key strategy of the chapter.”
The artists participating in “The Art of Friendship” this year are Sherry Boram, Judy Crist, Tracy Davidson, Brenda Jarrett, Don Saxon and Chic Valazco.
Buddy pairs participating in the Art of Friendship this year are Lori Boram and Sue Patton, Sarah Williams and Amanda Case, Blair Patton and Gwen Purkey, and Chris Neeley and Alex McWilliams.
Proceeds from the auction will help fund the program in the future.
People can view all the auction artwork at https://www.pasgallery119.org/event/best-buddies-silent-art-auction/. They can call in bids to 765-778-0986. Winning bids will be announced at an open house set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.
The artists society also begins a blend show on Friday. The blend show invites artists to work collaboratively on pieces. People will be able to meet some of the participating artists and vote for their favorite piece. The blend show runs through Aug. 31 at the gallery, 119 W. State St. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
