School accepting parade signups

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School is accepting entries for the 2021 Homecoming Parade.

The parade is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1, with a start time of 6 p.m.

As in years past, it will begin at the Community Building at Falls Park and wind its way down Pendleton Avenue and State Street to John Broughton Stadium at Pendleton Heights.

Parade entry forms can be accessed with the Google Form: https://forms.gle/jE2wwVjAJXxLt9g77.

People interested in being a part of the parade should fill out the form by Sept. 24.

Visual Art Show continues

PENDLETON — South Madison Visual Art Show will be on display through Sept. 29 at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

The gallery, located at 119 W. State St., is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

This exhibit has been made possible through the South Madison Community Foundation Arts Fund.

Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

• Painting with Diane Burrell — two evening sessions. Each session is comprised of four classes, set for 6:30 to 9 p.m. Session 2: Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Session 3: Nov. 11, 18 and 25, and Dec. 2.

Students will work on their own paintings or one of Diane’s. There will be a focus on selecting a composition and color palette from photos, pictures and sketchbook ideas. Classes will include demonstrations and worksheets. Cost is $55 per session. Participants must bring supplies or pay $10 extra per class. Class is limited to 10 students.

• Pottery with Janae Ledbetter — morning and evening sessions (each session is comprised of five classes, the last one for glazing). The cost is $120 for each session, which includes supply fee and firings.

Tuesday sessions (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; limit eight students per session) Session 2 — Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, Nov. 2; Session 3 — Nov. 9, 16, 23, 30, Dec. 7

Wednesday sessions (10 a.m. to noon; limit five students per session) Session 2 — Sept. 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, Nov. 3; Session 3 — Nov. 10, 17, 24, Dec. 1, 8

Markleville ’68 get-together set

MARKLEVILLE — Graduates from Markleville High School Class of 1968 plan a get-together for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Sahm’s Smokehouse, 250 W. Reformatory Road, Pendleton (located at Fall Creek Golf Course).

Classmates will meet in the outdoor pavilion. Food and drink will be available.

MCHS cancels September meeting

Madison County Historical Society has canceled its Sept. 27 membership meeting, citing Madison County’s COVID-19 status.

In addition, it is canceling all of the meetings for the Civil War Roundtable through the end of the year.

Members will continue to monitor this situation and reevaluate month to month.

Harvest Festival coming up

INGALLS — Pendleton First United Methodist Church-Ingalls Campus is planning a Harvest Festival for 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16.

The event will feature a performance by the gospel music group Stones Crossing as well as a magician, chilli cook-off ($50 gift card prize), photo booth and hayride.

The church is located at 301 N. Alfonte, Ingalls.
