Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

• Pottery with Janae Ledbetter — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 15, and Sunday, Jan. 16. In this two-day workshop titled “Beautifully Broken,” participants will use a 15th century art form called Kintsugi (Keen-sue-ge). Kintsugi is a craft dedicated to the restoration of fine pottery. In this process, shattered pieces of pristine vases are artfully rejoined with a gold laced epoxy. Cost is $65 and includes all supplies. Maximum 12 students, adult only.

• Deco Clay Class with Pam Rowley — 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29. Participants will make a deco clay mirror accent piece to use on the table or wall. This is a beginner class. Colors for the project are selected by the student at the time of class. Cost is $50 with all supplies and tools provided. Ages 12 and older.

• Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23. Partipants will make personalized charm necklaces using mixed metals, their own designs, including a stamp of inspiration or names. Cost is $45 and includes use of

all tools. All metals, silver, beads and charms are provided. This is a beginner class for people 7 and older.

• Children’s Art Classes — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday each month. Each class will be different and taught by different teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration. The class for each month will be advertised on the PAS website.

Meeting , Jackson Township talk scheduled

MADISON COUNTY — Madison County Historical Society’s monthly membership meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the Anderson Public Library in the Chief Anderson Room on the third floor.

This change in location and time allows for a presentation by County Historian Stephen T. Jackson, part of his What’s In A Name Series: the “History of Jackson Township,” and follow social distancing. It is recommended that people wear masks.

The historical society facility will close at noon Jan. 24.
