PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society at Gallery 119 plans a 2-D Art Show from Feb. 4 to

March 2.

Artwork will be in various media, including oil pastel, drawing, charcoal, acrylic, pencil and watercolor.

The show will be judged by Stephanie Michaels at the show opening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4.

Prizes will be awarded to first place ($75), second ($40), third ($30) and People’s Choice ($20).

The public is invited to vote for their favorite artwork for the People’s Choice Award,

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton, and is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

‘Sons’ plans breakfast at post

PENDLETON — A Sons AMVETS breakfast is set for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at AMVETS Post 26, 939 S. Broadway St.

The buffet breakfast will include biscuits and gravy, hash browns, french toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs or eggs made to order, and coffee, milk or juice.

The cost is $9 per person.

The post is a smoking facility. No one under 21 is permitted in the building.

Legion market planned for Feb. 12

PENDLETON — Pendleton Legion Post 117 plans a farmers market for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12.

There will be at least 15 booths, including many operated by those who participate in the summer market in Falls Park.

The Legion will be selling biscuits and gravy with coffee, juice, and soft drinks available.

The event will be indoors and open to the public.

Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

• Oil Painting with Katy Burke — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 (with a break for lunch). Participants will paint a seascape in oil. The class costs $55 with supplies provided. Those with their own supplies (paints and brushes) pay $45. Canvas is provided.

• Adult Pottery Class with Janae Ledbetter — four classes, 10 a.m. to noon Feb 2, 9 and 16, with final glazing date to be anounced. Participants will have three classes to create a windchime with a design of their choice. The cost is $120.

• Exploring Pottery with Janae Ledbetter — 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 2, 9 and 16, with a final glazing date to be announced. The cost of $120.

• Kids Class With Katy Burke — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12. Participants will have a chance to weave their own wall hanging. Cost is $10 per child. Limit is eight students.

• Deco Clay Class with Pam — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 12 (ages 12 and older). Participants will have a chance to learn how to make Valentine Gnomes using Deco Clay. This is a beginner class. The cost is $50 and includes all supplies and tools.

• Watercolor with Judy Crist — 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 19. Participants will paint a “Winter Barn” in watercolor. The cost is $45.

• Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27. Participants will make a sterling silver ring. Cost is $55 and includes silver, choice of stone and use of tools needed for the project. Magnifying glasses or visor would be useful.

Children’s Art Classes — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday each month. Each class will be different and taught by different teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration. The class for each month will be advertised on the PAS website.

Outfitters gala coming up

PENDLETON — Outfitters Masquerade Ball, a fundraiser for the local charity benefitting families in the South Madison school district, is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Embassy Suites in Noblesville.

The annual event, which is in its 15th year and was virtual last year because of COVID-19, returns to in-person in the Waters Ballroom, where the event took place in 2019 and 2020.

This year’s event, which includes a cake auction, features a sit-down dinner (short rib plus salmon or seared chicken), silent and live auctions, and dancing with live music, provided by The Flying Toasters. There will be a VIP experience that will include an exclusive euchre tournament, which will take place from 9 to 11 p.m.

Other features of the evening include a photo booth and professional photographer for formal pictures on the red carpet.

Tickets cost $65 each. Tables seating up to eight, or 10 by special request, cost $600.

Prom dress give-away set for March 5

PENDLETON — GVC Mortgage plans its annual prom dress give-away for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the company’s main office, 600 Corporation Drive, Suite 200, Pendleton.

All Madison County students are welcome to participate.

Last year, 82 prom dresses were given away; this year, more than 250 dresses will be available.

Stylists and alterations will also be onsite to set up prom day appointments. Everything provided will be at no cost to students.

State historic preservation photo contest is on

The annual Historic Preservation Month photo contest, sponsored by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology, has begun.

The subject of entry photos must be in Indiana, at least 50 years old, and something that was designed/built by people.

It can be a building that’s been restored or one that needs some attention.

The idea is to show the value of historic preservation. Photos of exclusively natural elements are not eligible.

The complete rules and guidelines and the required entry form are at: on.IN.gov/preservation-month .

The photos should be JPEG files (less than 10MB). Each photo and the required entry form should be emailed to [email protected] as attachments. Photographers can submit up to three photos, but can submit only one photo and entry form per respective email.

The contest deadline is Friday, April 1.
