INDIANAPOLIS — With a 4-0 victory against host North Central, the Pendleton Heights softball team won its Class 4A regional on Tuesday.

As she did in the team’s 10-1 sectional final victory over Mt. Vernon Saturday, senior Hailee Brunnemer got the Arabians off to a good start.

She had a first-inning triple, then scored on a single by Kieli Ryan.

Pendleton Heights added two runs in the second and one run in the fourth. The team had 10 hits. North Central had three.

The Arabians, ranked No. 7 in the Class 4A coaches poll, will take a 25-6 record into the semi-state tournament Saturday, June 4 at Bedford North Lawrence.

They will play the winner of Tuesday’s regional game between No. 1-ranked, defending state champion Roncalli and Avon in the first of two semifinal games at 11 a.m.

The second semifinal is between No. 11 Shelbyville and the winner of the game between No. 5 Bedford North Lawrence and No. 13 Castle.

The semistate championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. The winner advances to the Class 4A state title game to be held either June 10 or 11 at Bittinger Stadium at Purdue University.

For the Arabians, the regional title is the ninth in school history and first since 2013. It is the third regional title in Class 4A.
