LEBANON — In their season opening contest at Lebanon, the Pendleton Heights Arabians fell short 26-12 in a game where expectations fell short.

The Arabians scored just one touchdown in the game on Friday, by senior Jalen Jordan. Jordan led the offense with 92 yards receiving. Sophomore Colton Frank passed for 91 yards.

As a team, the Arabians had 122 yards rushing between seven players.

Kicker Dom Apo scored a field goal and a PAT, while junior Eli Libler was credited with a safety.

The Arabians will play host Anderson on Friday, Aug. 26.

The Indians also lost their season opener at Yorktown 20-0.

The Indians’ strength in that game was in their passing game with 91 yards with four different receivers touching the ball. The Indians didn’t fare well in rushing as they accumulated just 34 yards for the game.

In a radio interview with WEEM after Friday’s game, Arabian Coach Jed Richman had a lot to say about the loss he called embarrassing.

“We’re gonna have to figure out how to find the time (for) everything we need to work on. These first few weeks of the season, it often comes down to discipline, effort and toughness, and we just didn’t have it this evening.”

Richman said the loss was a collection of all of them with both players and coaches missing the mark.

“We got a good ball club and a great bunch of kids, and they work their tails off, but it doesn’t mean they get to win. It’s a lot of simple things,” Richman said.

Mistakes were made in lining up, unfinished blocks and missteps. Richman said while the loss was embarrassing, he’s not embarrassed by his team.

“These boys are good kids, and they will come back humble and hungry,” he said.

Friday’s game with Anderson begins at 7:30 p.m. on John Broughton Field.
