PENDLETON — Pendleton Players performed the musical “Back to the 80’s” from Friday through Sunday at the school’s Loran G. Skinner Auditorium at Pendleton Heights High School.
All three performances of the high school production — which tells the story of the 1980s senior class at William Ocean High School through the nostalgic eyes of an adult looking back, set to popular music of the day — had good attendance, Artistic Director Jacque Brown said.

The musical, written by Neil Gooding and featuring dozens of student performers, included songs such as “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” by Wham!, “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler and “Material Girl” by Madonna.
Among the cast members was alumni guest artist Skyler Leffingwell, a 2013 Pendleton Heights graduate who was active in theater in middle and high school. He returned to play the adult version of Corey Palmer, the character who recalls the story in “Back to the 80’s.” Pendleton Heights first performed the show the year after Leffingwell graduated. Leffingwell said in a text on Tuesday that his guest role was all he hoped it would be.
“It was a long time coming and I truly missed the stage! Everything ran so well!”
