Joan Valente won a Marit Award for her oil painting “Mad About Blue.”

Leslie Newton earned an Honorable Mention with her oil work “Day of the Dead.”

Jeannette Pomery Passi earned an Honorable Mention with oil work “Meet Me Halfway.”

Joan Valente won People’s Choice with oil painting “Fond of Walking.”
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society announced the winners of its Spring Art Show at the recent First Friday Event at Gallery 119.
David Franklin was the judge for the event.
Winners show were:
• First Place — Vernon Bedel, “Rapids Repose,” graphite (Pictured with Leslie Reynolds representing the show’s sponsor, Three Rivers Federal Credit Union)
• Second Place — Greg Gearlds, “Ed and Linda Pose for a Photo,” acrylic
• Third Place —Vernon Bedel, “Animals On The River,” prisma color markers
• Merit Award — Carla Corbin, “Two Happy Pigs — in Mud, of Course,” pastel; Joan Valente, “Mad About Blue,” oil
• Honorable Mention — Leslie Newton, “Day of The Dead,” oil; Jeannette Pomery Passi, “Meet Me Halfway,” oil
• People’s Choice — Joan Valente, “Fond of Walking,” oil
Awards included $70 for First Place, $40 for Second Place, $30 for Third Place and $20 for People’s Choice.
The show will be on display through May 31 at the gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton, during regular business hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
