PENDLETON — The annual 4th at the Falls Independence Day celebration is set for Tuesday, July 4, but this time at just one, centralized location.
The event, organized by Main Street Pendleton, has used Falls Park to hold the food trucks and festivities in the past, and Pendleton Sports Complex for the fireworks show.
This year, the entire celebration will take place at the sports complex.
“The fireworks are let off in that back football field at the sports complex, so most people would enjoy the activities over at the gazebo and park and then would leave to set up for the fireworks,” Niki Brown said. “The idea was to just have everyone — the food and entertainment — all together at one site before the fireworks go off, so people don’t have to leave that other stuff to get a parking space and set up to watch the firework show.”
The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with food trucks parked throughout the circle drive, along with a beer garden for attendees ages 21 and older.
The food trucks will consist of Bigg Higg, Pork Paradise, Greek’s Pizzeria, Twisters, Yummerful Ice Cream and Charmed Cookies.
The beer garden is being put on by The Stable.
“The new thing this year is going to be the beer garden, because we haven’t had that in the past,” Brown said.
Live music is planned as the precursor to the firework show and will take place from 5:30-10 p.m.
An acoustic set by Disagreeable will kick off the evening from 5:30-7 p.m, and The Corey Cox Band will play from 8-10 p.m.
The festivities will conclude with a firework show put on by Ramsey Pyrotechnics beginning at 10 p.m.
For the first time, there will also be LED lightups for kids to purchase.
“People are invited to bring their blankets, chairs, and enjoy an afternoon of food, entertainment and fireworks,” Brown said.
“The concert is going to be on the concrete slab where the concession stand is, so everybody can sit in the grassy area between the two diamonds and see the entertainment and the fireworks from there.”
Main Street Pendleton is a non-profit organization that aims to promote economic development and a sense of community in town.
