Planting for the future

Pendleton Urban Forestry Committee and fourth-grade students at the Pendleton Elementary School planted a Heritage Oak Tree in honor of Arbor Day on Wednesday, Oct. 4. This tree was planted at the playground to eventually help provide shade to students for years to come. The students also learned about the history of Arbor Day and the many benefits trees provide a community. By celebrating Arbor Day each year, Pendleton is recognized as a Tree City USA community. Representing the town was Town Council President Marissa Skaggs, Urban Forestry Committee President Carol Hanna, and Planning and Zoning Administrator Denise McKee.
