Legion plans activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:
All-you-can-eat wing night is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Thursdays, with all-you-can-eat wings costing $12
Lunch specials (as well as regular menu) — starting at 11 a.m. weekdays
Treasure Hunt drawing takes place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays
Pool on Sunday — beginning at noon, no charge
People interested in playing on a tournament euchre team or pool team should call or stop by the post and talk to Dave or Haley.
The Legion’s general membership meeting is set for 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month.
Public is welcome. Facility is smoke-free.

PAS offers classes
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans the following art classes:
• Make a Centerpiece with Deco Clay with Pam Rowley — 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 28.
Participants will make a 5-inch centerpiece that includes a pumpkin, rose, leaf and sunflower arranged on a mirror. The cost is $25 and includes supplies.
Kids Class
Children’s Art Classes take place on the second Saturday each month. Each class is independent and will need its own registration.

Golf cart parade revs up
LAPEL — Lapel American Legion Riders are sponsoring their second annual Golf Cart Parade in Lapel at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29.
Assembly will take place at the High School parking lot.
The parade will follow Lapel emergency equipment, including fire truck and ambulance, through town and end at the Lapel American Legion post, where prizes will be awarded to the best looking golf carts and best dressed children.
Youngsters will be able to enjoy the slide and other entertainment.
Legion Riders will offer hot dogs and other snack food to adults. Children 11 and younger can eat without charge.

PHHS reunion coming up
PENDLETON – The Pendleton Heights High School Class of 1988 will host a reunion from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at Smith Family Farms, 7055 W. 675 S., Pendleton.

Talks explore county’s history
ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society Inc. offers a series of “First Sunday” presentations covering the History of Madison County, set for 2 p.m. monthly in the Bowman Room at Museum of Madison County History, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.
Madison County Historian Stephen T. Jackson delivers the presentations, which provide an overview of Madison County’s history through historical highlights.
Presentations run about an hour each and are free.
Following the presentation, at about 3 p.m., Jackson will sign his book “Historic Events in a County Called Madison: The 20th Century.” This book and others will be available to purchase.
The final talk in the series is set for Nov. 5: Madison County.

County’s 200th finale at Paramount
ANDERSON — The Grand Finale of the Madison County Bicentennial year celebrations is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 — the 200-year anniversary to the day of the county’s formation — at the Paramount Theatre.
Musical performances by the Rock Bottom Boys and Austin Morgan, and a showing of a special documentary on the contributions of the black community to Madison County history, will highlight the event.
Guest speakers include Madison County Historian Stephen Jackson, the mayors of Madison County’s three cities — Alexandria, Anderson and Elwood — and a representative of the Madison County Commissioner’s Office.
Highlights of the bicentennial year will also be shown.
The event is free and open to the public.
